In 1958, Mao started The Great Leap Forward, which was an attempt to modernize China's economy, and compete with countries like the USA. The Great Leap Forward was horrific, due to the deaths of around 30 million people. These deaths were a result of mass famine, and due to this, I do not think that it was as bad as Hitler and the Holocaust. I do not think that Mao's focus was to kill people, but the deaths were a result of his poor leadership. Whereas Hitler was deliberately killing millions of people because of his beliefs. Mao was to focused on the economy of his country, and did not care for the lives of his people. Although more people were killed in The Great Leap Forward, I still see the Holocaust as a worse event in History, because it was Hitlers intentions to have millions of people killed.
