Hitlers first attempt or rising to power started in 1923 with the Munich/Beer Hall Putsch. This was an attempt to overthrow the government after protesting the French Occupation of the Ruhr, and failed in the end with the arrest of both him, and General Ludendorff. Hitler soon became the leader of the German workers party, and changed the name to National Socialist German Workers Party (NAZI). Hitler and his party used similar tactics to Mussolini, with the creation of the Blackshirts, who were led by Ernest Rohm, and induced fear in people with violence. Hitlers party first only gets 12 seats in 1928, but by 1932 had 230 out of 647 seats, making it the largest party. After being elected, Hitler and his party outlawed all other political parties. President Hindenburg does not elect Hitler as Chancellor at this time, but does so when he fell to 198 seats. Hitler soon created the Shutzstaffel, who murder internal challengers. After Hindenburg dies, an election is held, and Hitler wins with 99.9% of the votes. After being elected, Hitler had all the power in Germany.
