The February/March revolution started with many riots and strikes in Petrograd. Due to the lack of a leader, and no political movement, it got out of control. The aim of the revolution was to dethrone the Tsar, and aimed to replace him with Provisional Government. The riots were so fierce that he abdicated in favor of the provisional government. The difference between this and the October/November revolution was that in the February/March revolution, overthrew the Government and took over. 20,000 sailors took control of Petrograd, demanded that the Soviets take over. As a result of this, the Bolsheviks who were led by Vladimir Lenin, put an end to Provisional Government.
