Enemy at the Gates is a film that takes place in Russia, in World War 2. In the Movie, Russia and Germany are fighting over a small town called Stalingrad. If the Germans won this battle, there would be no hope for Russia in the war. In the movie, the protagonist is a Russian foot soldier who was trained to use a sniper rifle at a young age. He was sent into battle without a gun, and just ammunition, and was told to pick up a gun from a fallen soldier. This was because they were short on supply and could not afford to give everyone a gun. If any soldier attempted to retreat, they would be shot by their own soldiers. This shows the harshness and the ruthlessness of the war. The sniper was eventually promoted and was made a war hero for the Russians. After assassinating many highly ranked Germans, including a very skilled Germany sniper, he gave the Russians the momentum they needed to win the battle.
