Vladimir Lenin was one of the Bolshevik's main leaders, and created the communism in Russia. While in power, Lenin was not supported by many countries including Britain, France, and the USA, due to the fear of communism. The Bolsheviks were know as the "Reds" and anyone who opposed them where know as the "Whites". Lenin's goals were to nationalize all banks, redistribute all land, and confiscate all private accounts. In doing this, he established many enemies for the Bolsheviks and himself, which lead to his death in 1924. After Lenin's death, there was a fight between Joseph Stalin and Leon Trotsky for power. The struggle between the two was called "Guns or butter" because Stalin was focused on heavy industry, while Trotsky was focused on consumer goods. The fight lasted for three years, and Stalin eventually rose to power, and had Trotsky exiled from the soviet Union. Stalin modernize Russia by making the country more industrial, which made it one of the wealthiest countries in the world.
